Wonderful collection of 20th century furniture and Decorative Arts Found in Dorking.

Wellers Auction House in Chertsey will shortly hold a sale that will surely prove to be one of the highlights of the Auction Calendar.   The major part of which came from a Dorking house. The property Broomells tucked away in the Surrey Hills held a collection of paintings, Furniture and Pottery that is likely to attract interest from Museums, Galleries and collectors.

The Collection was assembled by two generations of the Reynolds Family. and, spans nearly 100 years . Encompassing work by some of the greatest Artists , Craftsman  and Designers of their day. Of particular note are two paintings   by Eric Ravilious an Artist of great talent, who also designed distinctive ceramics for Wedgwood, He died in 1942 while serving as a war artist, aged only 39. but his popularity and stature as an Artist continues to grow. John Nash R.A one time friend of Ravilious is also represented with two watercolours, each of a very British countryside scene.

The furniture from  ‘Broomells ranges from a magnificent English walnut Cabinet designed by Ernest Gimson around 1907 to the mid 20th century designs which are so popular today.

Studio pottery by major names such as Bernard Leach and Michael Cardew .had been collected alongside, art pottery from 1900 to 1970 It seems that both generations of the Reynolds family had a very good eye for quality and craftsmanship and this is evident in the collection to be sold on the 2nd of February.
