 PAN WEAVES HIS MAGIC AT WELLERS

  A finely carved figure of Pan By Ian Norbury  created  much  interest at the  Wellers  Guildford Street Sale,  The quality of the Carving and Charming subject, bought the bidding to £450 plus premium, a very good result for a modern carving. Another example of quality carving came in the form of a mahogany, centre table with wonderfully carved hairy paw feet  and lion mask frieze. The table came  from a Woking  house  and is  thought to have once been used as a boardroom table. Interest from London buyers pushed the price to £3,800

 Antique Wardrobes which have the reputation of being difficult to sell, made good prices with three  good quality examples selling for between £500 and £2000.In general  the furniture  section was very buoyant a sign of the quality in the sale.

In the Ceramics section a Doulton plate with golfing theme drew interest from collectors far and wide and sold at £1450 .  Quality silver was much in demand and one item that was particularly appealing to collectors was a silver compact case with top quality enamelling, featuring two pheasants in flight this sold for £240.

The Jewellery and watch auction saw fierce bidding for a number of Rolex watches which sold for between £700 and £1200. Diamond Earrings proved popular as ever, a particularly fine pair of 1.8 carat set in 18ct gold selling for £1800 .Wellers next Jewellery sale is on March 30th, Antiques Art and Collectables on March 31st.
